WellLink™ Health Alliance is a healthcare advocacy organization that brings together the strength of many for the benefit of all. WellLink is a convener for individuals, companies, organizations, educators, thought leaders and influencers, media, and municipalities — all collaborating for the greater good.
The name WellLink combines the aspiration for well-being with the goal of linking together to make connections that benefit from a broader, more regional approach. We are interconnected, and together, we form a limitless link, serving our communities, fostering health, and advancing well-being.
In 1916, The Center for Health Affairs became the nation’s first regional hospital association and the voice for Northeast Ohio hospitals, bringing members and stakeholders together to enhance the healthcare community. For more than a century The Center increased the efficiency of healthcare delivery, provided insightful healthcare information to the public, led initiatives to improve the health of the community, and adapted to the rapid evolution in healthcare by constantly enhancing its service offerings to meet the changing needs of its hospital members. All of this now leads toward a new tomorrow for healthcare advocacy organizations.
While The Center for Health Affairs served the Northeast Ohio region and its leading hospitals with commitment and dedication for many decades, new challenges lead to new opportunities.
WellLink Health Alliance can now move forward as a healthcare advocacy organization to expand into other geographic regions and more business and organizational sectors to fully encompass all that impacts the health and well-being of people and communities.

People living in poverty face daily challenges related to lack of digital connections, housing, food, access to medical care and behavioral health providers, unemployment, and so much more. These economic and social conditions influencing people where they live, learn, work, and play are known as Social Determinants of Health (SDoH). As a leading healthcare advocacy organization, WellLink Health Alliance collaborates with local businesses, nonprofit organizations, government officials, community residents, and policymakers to drive action to address SDoH and their root causes as informed by data.

WellLink's finance and reimbursement initiatives give hospitals and healthcare organizations the tools and information they need to stay viable in today’s healthcare marketplace. Every day, hospitals provide care and services to heal the sick and take care of those in need — so every day, finance and reimbursement professionals must ensure their institutions are financially capable of meeting patient needs.

This program plays a key role in improving regional emergency preparedness by working with area hospitals and other agencies to increase their capacity and capability to respond to and recover from natural and man-made disasters. Preparedness relies upon partnerships among individual hospitals, regional hospital systems, community healthcare entities, public health departments, and public safety organizations such as police, fire, and emergency medical services. Through planning, testing, and training, the Emergency Preparedness program builds a stronger and better-coordinated region.

The Northeast Ohio Opioid Consortium, housed at WellLink, is a physician-led collaborative working to mitigate the opioid crisis. Together, community leaders and healthcare partners are helping to reduce the widespread negative effects of opioids on our communities by sharing and implementing evidence-based practices, promoting policy changes, and increasing prevention efforts.

WellLink Health Alliance collects 24 data points each month from participating hospitals and health systems that are aggregated into a report encompassing 118 indicators in categories including inpatient and outpatient surgeries, emergency care, observation services, and more. By leveraging new technologies and software, reports can be produced as quickly as two weeks from the end of a reporting period. This aids forecasting and decision making in marketing, budgeting, finance, and strategic planning, while regional data supports industry advocacy and government relations.

WellLink Health Alliance amplifies the voice of healthcare institutions to protect access to quality care and services for the communities it serves. Rooted in a commitment to improving health and well-being at the local, state, and national levels, WellLink helps healthcare institutions face unprecedented challenges, including workforce shortages, soaring costs of providing care, severe underpayment by Medicare and Medicaid, delays in payment by third-party insurers, and overwhelming regulatory burdens.
